The weekend is here! Though it looks to be a cold and rainy weekend, don’t let the weather deter you from some of the fun events happening in Ottawa this weekend.
Gustav Doré Exhibition
This weekend marks the last chance to see the Master of Imagination exhibit at the National Gallery of Canada. The exhibit features one hundred works by the world-renowned 19th century French artist, illustrator, engraver, and sculptor. Admission is $16 for adults and children under 11 years old can visit free of charge.
Canadian Comedy Awards Festival
This comedic festival continues through the weekend. The festival has something for everyone, from stand-up to improv shows, local showcases, and more. The weekend’s events conclude on Sunday night with the Canadian Comedy Awards hosted by Ottawa native Tom Green at the Ottawa Little Theatre on King Edward. Tickets are $40.
Ottawa Folk Festival
This celebration of music, folk and otherwise, wraps up this weekend. Dozens of performances remain, including The National and J. Cole on Friday, Neutral Milk Hotel and Blue Rodeo on Saturday, and Hey Rosetta! and Joss Stone on Sunday. Day tickets are $48.50 for Friday while Saturday and Sunday cost $45 each.
Ottawa Turkish Festival
Come visit the Ottawa Turkish Cultural Centre in Kanata to take part in a weekend of food, dancing, movies, workshops, exhibits, and more. Access to the event is free, and there is even a complimentary lunch on Saturday. The festival runs from noon until evening on both Saturday and Sunday.
Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life
The 25th annual AIDS Walk for Life takes place on Bank Street this Saturday afternoon. In addition to helping a great cause, there are plenty of fun events planned including live entertainment, a family-friend obstacle course, karaoke, and treats like popcorn and karaoke. Even if you can’t make it out, consider donating $10 by texting HERO to 41010 to help the fight against HIV/AIDS.
