What to Do In Ottawa: Weekend Preview November 21-23

Here are our recommended events and activities for this weekend in Ottawa!

World Trivia Night

The world’s largest team trivia competition is back on Friday night for its 20th edition. World Trivia Night is not only great fun, it raises funds for important causes like the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa. The cost is $400 for a team of ten, and registration is still open for a great night of fun with big prizes to be awarded. Who will win the coveted Trong Nguyen Memorial World Trivia Night Championship Trophy and $5,000 top prize? Find out tonight at the EY Centre!

Ottawa Senators vs. St. Louis Blues

The Senators host the visiting St. Louis Blues on Saturday afternoon. Ottawa is coming off a 3-2 home win against the Nashville Predators on Thursday night, thanks to some timely offense and a big performance in the crease by Robin Lehner. Saturday’s tilt against the Blues is the last home game before the Senators embark on a five-game road trip. St. Louis’ 12-6-1 record place them in the top ten of the NHL standings, and they will want to bounce back following a 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens last night. Go Sens Go!

Hintonburg Craft Fair

The annual Hintonburg Artisan Craft Fair takes place this Saturday from 10am to 4pm at the Hintonburg Community Centre. It is a great chance to celebrate local artists and craftmakers, pick up some unique Christmas gifts, or just treat yourself. Don’t miss the handcrafted jewellery, natural soaps, fashion creations, and original prints and paintings. Aside from the artistic creativity on display, you can also pick up some tasty baked goods, participate in the silent auction, and win raffle prizes.

Ottawa Pop Expo

Tell all your sci-fi, comic book and gaming fan friends about the Ottawa Pop Expo, a celebration of all things pop culture! Come to the EY Centre this weekend to meet and greet with celebrities for autographs, play classic tabletop games like Settlers of Catan in the Game Zone. During Saturday’s Masquerade, cosplayers can show off their tailoring talents. Featured guests come from some of your favourite TV shows and movies, including Doctor Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Star Trek: Voyager. There are workshops, panels, and a ton of activities for a whole weekend of geeky fun! Tickets are $25 online or $35 at the door.

Help Santa Toy Parade

This is a great event for the entire family! Join the Ottawa Fire Fighters’ Association downtown on Sunday morning as they walk a parade route to pick up toys in help of needy children this holiday season. The Help Santa Toy Parade starts at 11am in front of Library and Archives Canada and winds its way down Wellington, Bank, and Laurier Streets. Kids will love the festive atmosphere of music, costumes, and floats. And don’t forget to see Santa! If you can’t make it out to the parade, you can support the cause by dropping off toys at any local firehouse.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!
