Don’t get excited about these almost Spring temperatures – the weather is expected to return back to the bitter cold for the bulk of the weekend. But don’t fret – we’ve always got ideas on what to do this weekend! Whether participating in more physical activities is part of your new year’s goals, or you got engaged over the holidays and now getting hitched is part of the plan for 2018, we’ve got something for you.
Winter Cycling and Fat Biking
Ever wondered about those folks who bike in the winter? How do they do it? What are those thick tires on their bike? Try it out for yourself! It’s a great winter activity and with the Sir John A MacDonald Parkway, the Trans Canada Trail and so many other great paths in the region, you’ll never get tired of the scenery. Try it out this weekend at the South March Highlands Conservation Forest in Kanata thanks to local shop Rebec & Kroes Cycle and Sport. For more details, check out their Facebook event.
Already a winter cycler? Got your fat tires ready? Get back into it! Join the group ride happening on Saturday afternoon starting at Westboro Beach at noon, hosted by Bushtukah. Visit the Facebook page for more details and don’t forget to RSVP.
Take Your Winter Runs Outside
Not into cycling? Running more your thing? Decided that 2018 would be the year you got outside for your winter runs? Local lady-owned gym, Iron North Studio is hosting weekly group runs on Sunday mornings throughout the season. Now you’ve got no excuse to not be ready for that half-marathon this spring. Oh, and it’s free! But we still suggest you check out this exceptional fitness studio. See the routes, register your spot, and read the details here.
