Get out That Red Wine Stain – No Fuss No Hassle

You come home from a long day at work, have dinner and put the kids to bed. And then you pull out your favorite bottle and want nothing more than putting your feet up, curling up with your partner and have a glass of a nice red. And the wine spills all over the carpet. Don’t you just want kill something with frustration at that moment?

Well, I will stay true to my word and give you tips and tricks to get out that stain, no fuss and no hassle. Here is how you deal with a wine disaster.

Don’t leave it for later. Deal with it right away. If you leave it be, you will need to call in professional carpet cleaners to get it out.

While it is still wet, get a washcloth (preferably new) and soak up the wine as much as you can. You can use a little water or club soda to blot the stain.

Whether you are using a home-made cleaner or a cleaning product, use it on a little spot on the carpet to test it. Some products can have a different effect on the fabric of the carpet.

Now for the big reveal. Mix three parts baking soda with one part water and make a paste. Spread this paste on the red wine stain and let it sit for a while. Get out the vacuum cleaner and suck it all up.

Wait, there’s more. You could also sprinkle salt on the stain and the magical powers of the salt will soak up the wine. Let it dry and vacuum it up.

Mix water and vinegar. Get a washcloth and blot out the stain.

I got one more. Mix dishwashing soap and hydrogen peroxide and pour on the stain. Let it soak and then clean it out with water.

Once the carpet is vacuumed/ washed, it is time to see the end result. If it is not as clean as it used to be and the faint stain is still apparent, call in the professional cleaners. They use products we don’t and also, they are there for a reason.

Hopefully, you will have a clean carpet soon and next time you want to enjoy a glass of red, do it far away from the carpet.
