Everything You Need to Know About Saunders Farm

If you are looking for something to do this weekend in Ottawa, look no further. The must-see farm of the autumn season is located 40 minutes southwest of downtown Ottawa and is absolutely worth the drive. Situated in the small village of Munster, which is home to around 1,500 people, Saunders Farm attracts over 60,000 people each year to come and explore their seemingly endless activities.

Good things to know…

Admission can be a little bit pricey, but there are many ways to obtain a discount. General daytime admission is $18.50 (plus tax) per person over 2 years old, 2 years and under are free of charge. Night admission is $31.86 + HST per person. If you are travelling in groups of ten or more people you can get a discount, you can also get a discounted price if you buy tickets ahead of time at participating partner businesses in Ottawa. But the good news is you can stay all day if you want!

Saunders Farm is open only on weekends and certain holidays, but there are special provisions in place that can allow access for school trips or daycare groups if you call and book in advance.

Since the farm is only open on weekends you can expect it to be extremely busy, but don’t let that discourage you. The farm is huge and holds activities appropriate for all age groups. Examples of activities are the Barn of Terror and the Haunted Hayride (not intended for young children), many hedge mazes, a Ghost Town stage where many shows can be viewed, pumpkin hayrides suitable for all ages, jumping pillows, many play structures, pedal cart racetracks, puppet shows, a travelling band, and many different food vendors.

Speaking of food…

Saunders farm is unique in that they allow you to bring in food from home. Enjoy the day while eating your own snacks and save yourself some money. This is a great way to not spend a fortune but still enjoy a family fun day! There are many places to park it for a picnic.

If you decide to buy food at the farm, you will not be disappointed. Saunders Farm has a wide range of locally sourced food available at the many vendors located around the farm. Treat yourself to one of Ottawa’s ever-famous Beaver Tails at their location within the farm! Delicious food is around almost every corner, so don’t fill up at your first stop and miss out on some amazing flavour opportunities.

Fun for all ages

At first glance it appears to be a ginormous farm intended just for kids, but there is plenty of fun to be had for adults too. Go to the farm at night time for Fright Fest, which is described as the scariest date you will ever go on… Fright Fest is open on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-11pm.
